Day 1-Go over syllabus, lab safety/equipment Homework- Read Chapter 1 of the  book.  Answer the following questions in complete sentences (combine the question with the answer) Page 6: 1-3, 5, 8; page 11: 1-4; page 20 1-8; page 25: 1-2 Due Friday

Day 2-Broom game, introduce precision/accuracy, and sig figs.

Day 3- PreTest,  Ch. 1 and 2 Vocab due on Friday of next week no typing, must be handwritten,

Day 4- Notes going over the basics of Mass, Volume, Density, Metric System, Converting, Measuring, Accuracy vs. Precision, Sig Figs.



Day 5-Practice measuring, converting, sig. figs. in formulas.  significantfigures.pdf   UnitConversions1.pdf  sig. figs.; 


Day 6-Measuring Day-  Measuring Practice,go over scientific method,

Day 7-Pop Lab,  and Section 2.1 Assessment 1-5, and Section 2.2 Assessment 1-6, Section 2.3 Assessment 1-5, all in complete sentences due on Monday 

Day 8 -CSI Lab  

Day 9 -Vocab Quiz Quiz over sig figs, converting in the metric system, and measuring. 


Day 10 -Start on Ch. 2 Concept Map, Sand, Salt and Iron problem, Ch. 2 Notes,and Ch 1 and 2 Review Pg 29: 1-6, 12, 17; pg 63:1-10, 12-13, 16-18, 20.  All in complete sentences (including multiple choice) Due Thursday.


Day 11-Computer Lab to work on pop lab,


Day 12 -Review on types of matter

Day 13-Test over Ch. 1 and Ch. 2, Homework Ch 4 Questions- 4.1: 1-3, 7;  4.2: 1-9;  4.3: 1-3, 5-6 due on Tuesday all in complete sentences

Day 14 - go over test, Ch. 4, 5, 6 prequiz, Ch 4 Vocab due Jan. 5th 

 

 


Day 15- Finish prequiz, Element Flashcards (element quiz on Friday),

Day 16- Chapter 4 Notes, Table fill in, 

Bohr Models: Write out the Bohr Models for elements 1-20. , atomic structure/Bohr Model Practice.

Lab: "Predictng the Density of an Element" (didn't get to),  finish Ch. 5 notes and add in periodic trends and major families, Criss Crossing Ions examples,



Day 22-Take Ch. 5 vocab quiz.  Fill in table reviewing  basics of P, N, E (mass, charge, location, and effect on changes to these)

 Chapter 6.1 Questions 1-4, 8 due Friday,

Day 27- P/T Conferences, Finish notes from yesterday, Vocab Quiz over Ch. 6 vocab, go over rules to follow on naming Ionic and Covalent bonds , and work on Naming Covalent Compounds Worksheet Element 118,  Go over the difference between ionic and covalent bonds with Ionic Song ; work on "Review- Naming Chemical Compounds" ; then work on Ionic vs. Covalent Bonds Naming


Day 28 Continue working on the last two sheets from Tuesday. Work on Molar Mass Worksheet Work on Naming Ionic Compounds , just the front side and no molar mass yet.

Day 29-Naming Ionic Compounds (complete molar mass on front, and the back of worksheet), Work on Ch. 7 Questions pg 198 1-4, 9; pg 205 1-2, 7-8; pg 209 1-5; pg 215 1-7 due Thursday, Ch. 7 Vocab due Tuesday



Day 30 -finish the back of Naming Ionic Compounds from yesterday; talk about Law of Conservations of Mass; Balancing Equations 1 , 

Day 31- Ch. 7 Vocab Quiz, Notes on Types of Reactions (synthesis, decomposition, single replacement, double replacement, combustion), then fill in the types of reactions for Balancing Equations 1, Work on Balancing Equations WS 2 , Assign Ch. 8 and 9 Vocab and homework: 8.3 1-5, 8.4: 1-5 all due on next Tuesday

Day 32-Work on Balancing Equations 2, Combustion in a can, 


Day 33-Finish Balancing Equations 2, work on Name and Balance Review, Moles practice;

Day 34- Ch. 8 Acids and Bases Notes,, Single Replacement Lab, Chemistry Review: Page 187 1-7, 9, 11-13, 16, 20;  Page 223 1-4, 6-9;  Page 257 7-9, 19-22, 24 all in complete sentences due on Wednesday.
